Spring River in the extreme southeastern part of
Cherokee County, located in southeast
Kansas, in the
Central United States. The population was 4,602 at the

The average household size was 2.44 and the average family size was 3.02.
In the city the population was spread out with 26.5% under the age of 18, 9.2% from 18 to 24, 26.7% from 25 to 44, 20.8% from 45 to 64, and 16.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 89.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.4 males.
The
median income for a household in the city was $28,876, and the median income for a family was $33,933. Males had a median income of $27,005 versus $19,038 for females. The
per capita income for the city was $13,789. About 9.3% of families and 10.2% of the population were below the
poverty line, including 13.5% of those under age 18 and 12.4% of those age 65 or over.
